Mike
As a head and neck surgeon who has practiced medicine for over thirty years, Mike brings a wealth of medical knowledge and experience along with a strong understanding of medical and surgical issues to his approach in evaluating and pursuing medical fraud and abuse litigation and medical malpractice litigation. Mike has served in many leadership positions at multiple Jackson metro hospitals during his medical career, including Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, and Chief of Head and Neck Surgery. Along with his commitment to improve and enhance patient care and safety, Dr. Osborne has served on many hospital committees including Medical Executive, Operating Room, Surgical Robotics, and Medical Ethics.
Mike concentrates on evaluation and pursuit of complex medical malpractice cases involving misdiagnosis, delays in evaluation, delays in treatment, and incorrect/inappropriate treatment which result in permanent injuries or wrongful death. Dr. Osborne pursues litigation against healthcare institutions and healthcare providers which involve medical fraud and abuse such as violations of the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
About
Mike attended Millsaps College where he received his Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in 1984, majoring in chemistry with an emphasis in organic and biochemistry, during which time he conducted research in the Department of Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Mike received his Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1988, and began a surgery residency specializing in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He entered private practice in 1994, and was founding partner of Mississippi Ear, Nose and Throat Surgical Associates in Flowood, MS.
Mike received his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2021, where he concentrated on Health Law and Healthcare Compliance. Mike was admitted to practice law in Mississippi in 2022, in addition to both the United States District Court Northern and Southern districts of Mississippi. Mike continues to hold an active medical license in the state of Mississippi.
Mike’s professional associations and memberships include: Mississippi Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Health Law Association, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Mississippi Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Society-President, Mississippi Surgical Society, American Chemical Society, and Alaska Airmen’s Association.
